Frequently asked questions
Keep your heating on as normal for at least 24 hours before the survey. Move any large items, such as bins, planters, or ladders, away from your external walls at least one hour before. No one needs to enter your property and you do not need to be present.
We use drones with thermal cameras to capture images of building exteriors. Surveys take place at night during cold weather. The camera shows the surface temperature of your walls as colours, making it easy to see where heat is escaping. You will receive a personalised report showing how your home is performing.
Thermal cameras show the surface temperature of walls and roofs. They cannot see through walls, roofs, or windows. They cannot see inside your home. It is not possible to recognise faces or vehicle licence plates in the images.
We collect thermal images of the outside of buildings. These are linked to property addresses so we can produce reports. We do not collect any information that identifies you personally. The data describes your building, not you.
We use the data to produce energy efficiency reports, to help councils understand the energy performance of buildings in the borough, and to improve our services. Any use of the data complies with data protection law and does not identify individual residents.
All data is stored securely on cloud infrastructure in the European Union. Access is restricted to authorised personnel.
